Kendrick Lamar, first rapper to win Pulitzer Prize for music

American rapper, Kendrick Lamar, won the Pulitzer Prize for music on Monday for his collection "DAMN," coordinators declared.

Lamar, 30, is the primary rapper to win the lofty honor.

The Pulitzer takes after the five Grammy grants won by Lamar in January for the collection

Past Pulitzer music champs incorporate jazz artists Wynton Marsalis and Ornette Coleman.

Rap is currently authoritatively the greatest music type in the United States in the wake of outperforming rock in 2017.

Lamar's combination of jazz, verse and blues with social subjects and love tunes has made him a standout amongst the most inventive rappers of his age.

The Pulitzers, the most esteemed respects in American news coverage and expressions of the human experience, have been granted since 1917.

Lamar's Pulitzer win denoted a huge flight, as past honorees have been drawn from the universes of established music and jazz.

The Pulitzer board on Monday hailed "DAMN," which was discharged in April 2017, as "a virtuosic tune accumulation bound together by its vernacular legitimacy and musical dynamism that offers influencing vignettes catching the many-sided quality of present day African-American life."
